How to use this wonderful program:

Capatilla is designed to be a very simple but
powerful tool for capturing stills from a video
input. At its most basic level, you record an AVI
sequence and then go through it frame by frame,
  exporting the frames you want.

However, where Capatilla differs from similar
software is that you can work on several AVI clips
simultaneously, and the video monitor can be
continuously active. This is useful if you want to
capture frames from a live signal.

Once you have recorded an AVI clip, it will be
displayed in a separate window with the video
monitor in the background. You can start moving
through the AVI clip and exporting frames, but if
something appears in the monitor window that you
want to capture, you can hit the TAB key to
activate it and start recording again. You can have
as many AVI clips open as your system resources
  will allow.

  Other features:

To export a sequence of frames, set the two numbers
on the control bar and press the sequence button.
The first number is the number of frames to export,
and the second number is the number of frames to
  skip between each export.

  Capatilla can automatically deinterlace exported
frames. Go to the Deinterlacing option on the
Settings menu to configure this feature, or to
  (de)activate it.

You can import AVI files using the Open option on
  the file menu.

Capatilla will automatically delete AVI files when
you close them. If you don't want this to happen,
untick the box on the AVI window.

You can use Capatilla as a full-screen TV monitor
by pressing F11. However, Capatilla is a monitor,
not a tuner, so there is no support for hardware-
specific functions such as changing channel.

Capatilla supports both overlay and non-overlay
monitoring. Use the option on the Monitor menu to
  specify which mode to use.

Most Capatilla functions can be controlled by using
  hot keys. They are:

     Enter Open monitor window
   Backspace Close monitor window
     Space Start recording (Monitor window)
Space Export single frame (AVI window)
Esc End recording (or exit full-screen)
Tab Quick swap from AVI to monitor window
Home, End Beginning and end of AVI clip
Left, Right Back and forward in AVI clip
Up, Down Fast back and forward in AVI clip
      F11 Toggle full-screen
